MARK NELSON “Dancing for Take The Lead 2018 will be an opportunity to contribute to a worthy charity and my community.” Mark Nelson has lived in Winston-Salem for thirty years, having grown up in the Northeast. He is an ophthalmologist who specializes in retinal disease, both research and clinical care. After raising four children with his wife, Janie, Mark has now approached ballroom dancing as a hobby and a challenge for body and mind.
LAURA STAINBACK grew up overseas as a missionary kid, and caught the dance bug shortly after moving to the US. In 2017 she opened her own studio, Best of Ballroom, with Ranko Bogosavac! Laura is a certified Teaching Artist with Take the Lead NC/ Dancing Classrooms. Sharing dance with the community is Laura’s passion. She is a strong believer that everyone needs to dance! We appreciate so much her years of dedication to this event and to the children we serve.
